Where Do Ideas Come From?
I had the pleasure of having lunch with two new friends this weekend. We discussed many things as we got to know each other better. One of the subjects that came up was my writing of adult erotica. Turns out one of them is a writer as well and so began our conversation about the genres we write and styles.
I was asked how I come up with the ideas for my stories and books. So I explained that my ideas for new stories come from a vast array of sources. Some of my writing is influenced by actual life experiences and events from my life. Though these stories are based on real-life, they might not actually be how the event transpired or could be my interpretation of the events.
Another thing I like to do is just sit and people watch. I will go to a public place and observe my fellow human beings in their natural habitat. Their individual interactions and behaviors give me inspiration and ideas to build upon. It could simply be a couple holding hands as they walk, or sneaking in a kiss when they think no one is looking. My mind will then conjure up a story based on that visual recollection and give me inspiration.
I also receive ideas from my readers and friends. MY friends will tell me about experiences in their own lives or even fantasies they might have, to which I then will craft a story to go with it. And of course you, my fabulous readers, send me messages and ideas for new books that you would like to see something written about. This is how the two newest books Dinner With The Neighbors and Swinging Neighbors 2 were created. Those two stories were brought about because someone had an interest in BDSM. (and there are follow-up stories coming soon from those two.)
Once I have these ideas, I keep a repository. Right now I have about 50 different potential story beginners and ideas just sitting there waiting for me to grab than, sit down, and begin writing about them. I love hearing from my fans, so don’t hesitate to reach out and share your thoughts on my writing and even send me ideas on what you would like to see in future books.
